Katerina Vasileska is an environmental activist from Ohrid.
Seeing how mass tourism has an invasive effect on the town and brings significant damage to the preservation of the nature of the lake and its surroundings, Katerina, along with her colleague, came up with Genuine experiences, a platform that promotes sustainable tourism.
By meeting locals who practice traditional skills, visitors have the opportunity to gain a unique experience of Ohrid, while at the same time contributing to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the area.
“Ohrid lake as an ecosystem is very important, and the other name it is known by in the entire region is the European Galapagos.”
“I think we need to find a way of living off tourism, but without destroying nature and the cultural heritage, because they are what attracts people”
